Tom mentioned popping a couple of Advils each morning before hitting the trail. Taking Advil prophylactically before exercise is not a bad idea, for its anti-inflammatory properties rather than its analgesic properties. I had an orthopedist once recommend that to me in my earlier years. I believe it does save wear and tear on the weight bearing joints.
