[philmont] Camp Chairs at Philmont

I carry the Crazy Creek cradle lounger (exact sling light knock off) on the
outside of my Gregory internal frame pack. It looks a bit awkward, but it's
the last thing added and the first thing removed when packing/unpacking. It
really isn't that hard to carry. It just looks funny.

With your indicated pack weight, I would guess that you are using an
internal frame and quite possibly one of the packs approaching
ultralight. I just don't know how a Slinglight would affect the fit,
especially the width of the chair versus the pack.

In addition, its sets very low to the ground in a semi-reclined
attitude. If you have knee or lower back issues, it might be difficult
to get out of if you've stiffened up after a hard day. But there is
always Vitamin I.

Having a chair is nice - you always have a dry place to sit and a seat
at campfire programs. I used a light aluminum folding camp stool that
weighed just over 16 oz. - about the same as my therma-rester converter
kit with a pad like Pete referred to. It didn't have a back, but I
could use a tree if need be; I was *up* which made putting on socks and
shoes easier; and I didn't have to worry what I'd do if I spilled food
on my sleeping pad when eating in my chair.

Happy Trails,

Roy Fisher
