I carry a crazy creek knock-off (actually, just about any cheap stadium
chair will do). Works great, though I'm getting a bit old for getting in
and out.
At every campsite we went to in 2005, there were logs to sit on. But I used
my chair quite a lot.
I viewed the slinglite as too expensive. Besides, the stadium seat made
great extra padding at times. Not a slinglite feature :-).
Most definitely worth the effort.

As an older Scouter (50+) going to Philmont for the first time, I was
thinking about including a camp chair in my backpacking gear. This would be
my one "luxury" item. Otherwise, it looks as if my pack weight will be in
the 20 to 25 pound range, with a fairly lightweight tent, bag and pack.
After some investigation, I have concluded that the SlingLite chair is the
best candidate, weighing in at about 18 ounces. Have any of you tried
carrying a chair on a Philmont trek? Is it worth the effort or a bad idea I
should just get over?
