[philmont] Program Activities

We see that problem all the time. As we all know Philmont does not
solve all challenges and if you have them at home they will follow you
to the ranch.

The challenge is that if you have 10 boys and four don't want to
participate you cheat the other six out of a chance of a lifetime.
Where possible I would have those that don't want to participate stay at
camp or play video games or do anything else. Cheating those who are
interested would be my very very last option.

If the activity is an all-in or nothing thing then I would really be
tempted to ave everyone participate. Much of this comes from time when
I was a youth and I wanted to do things that some of the others didn't
and felt cheated when the "vote" was to sit at camp and play cards. 30
years later it still bothers me.

I wonder how the others deal with these issues. Gotta happen more often
than not, if not then let me know where you live and I got some kids to
mail to you <grin>.
