I have not been to the International conference, but I am going this summer.
I'll see you there! I have been to PTC before (West Fellowship week) and
it was a blast. The family enjoys it much mre than the participant, and
my family has been pestering me to go again ever since. FIrst time I've
been able to squeeze it into my schedule...

My report on my PTC experience can be found on Seldon's excellent
website. See http://www.lns.cornell.edu/~seb/philmont.html#1.4

East coast or west, nearest commericial airport is Albuquerque with
Colorado Springs a close second. Options for travel can be found
on Seldon's page as well. However, I understand for PTC most
folks rent a car for a week.

You could, of course, catch the Amtrak from Albuquerque to Raton
then take the Philbus to CHQ which is just across the road from PTC.
(translations of the above greek can be found on Seldon's page :-).
Probably work out more expensive than a week long rental. Having a
car there can be quite convenient for your off day on Wed. and it
also makes for a lot more options for things to see away from Philmont
either the weekend before or after before taking your flight home.
There are a lot of things to see and do in and around Albuquerque and
between there and Philmont, so having a car is a pretty good option.

> Scouting Ireland

As an international traveller, I do not know the ramifications of
renting a car here, but if you are over 25, that should not be
a problem, so long as you have a divers license the rental
company will accept (I think it is called an "international drivers
license?"). I had some great visits with members of Scouting
Ireland while I was at World Jamboree this last summer. You
guys really know how ot have fun!

Bring patches! Trading will be much in demand :-)
