[philmont] Wilderness First Aid

>>>defination of "being qualified to perform under outback conditions"?<<<

Perhaps a poor choice or words. What I was trying to say was "knowing
enough about how to appropriately approach a first aid situation that
occurs in an outback setting". Legally qualifed is another matter
altogether. And then there's that matter of whether the physician is
licensed in New Mexico and the application of Good Samaritan laws, etc,
etc. That's a completely different set of issues.

My point was that if Wilderness First Aid is required for crew members
then physicians should not be exempt. Wilderness conditions are not the
same as an office setting, or surgical suite or an emergency room.
These courses can make everyone aware of that they might face and what
measure have been used in similar situations to get the most favorable
outcome.

>>>Sorry that I jumped all over you! I suppose you were trying to
inject some humor.<<<

No problem. Have a wife and we raised 4 kids. Have also spent most of
my life in competitive academic/clinical setting where everything is
questioned/debated/folded/spindled/mutilated before it is accepted or
rejected. I wear cast iron undies. :-)

>>>BTW, girls are accepted to Philmont crews and If they are
adoloescent then we might need and OB/GYN/Dermatolgis<<<

True - and many I have seen outhike the guys.

I'm abandoning this thread at this point. I am unlikely to change my
opinion and many others will stick to theirs. That's OK. But let's not
let this build up into something that leads folks to unsubscribe from
the list.
