Frank,
I always tell folks to save money and spray their clothes with Permethrin. It is the active ingredient and found in several brands of spray. You spray it on your clothes and then let them dry, good for most of the summer and several washings. That stuff is an insecticide - it kills insects. I've had my clothes, sprayed with Permethrin, covered with dead chiggers and turn red from the dead critters. Ticks, chiggers, skeeters run away from you if they have the chance. Don't know about No-Seeums, we don't have those in Missouri and our flies are rookies compared to the black flies of the north country.
One of the most startling discoveries of my life was skeeters in the mountains. I think everyone that goes to Philmont or NT should spray their clothes and take 1 oz of 100% DEET if they can stand it. Backpacker Mag. and others have done lots of tests to prove that Skin so Soft and that stuff doesn't work compared to DEET.

Thought to ponder: When did "No problem" become the response to "Thank you"?
