I wore extended-wear contacts (Johnson-Johnson brand) on a trek in 1992 (I later had RK surgery and no longer wear contacts/glasses).
I put in a new pair in base camp the morning we left and changed them at a Staff camp (Dean Cow??) half way through the trek. I picked the staff camp because they had good facities to wash my hands, etc. I changed again in base camp after the trek. I di
d take a pair of glasses just in case, but never needed them.
I did experience some dryness, but that was corrected with eye drops. I did not have problems with reddness, infection, etc.
It has been 8 years since I wore contacts, so I don't know what the new stuff is like.
Good Luck!
