Like Cooper, I have also had very good results with contacts on lots of
treks. My glasses are so strong that having worn contact for 17 years they
seem to distort the image...my poor brain just does not like to process what
it's getting. If you keep your hands clean when you handle the lenses you
should be fine. Be sure to bring spare lenses so you can use 'em if you
loose or tear one. The extra effort far surpasses any minor disadvantage of
extra care and time needed to wear 'em.
