is the CD any good for those going on Cavalcades? if not, is there a CD
that is (that you know of)?
Thanks. Mollie McAuliffe

I have the CD. Is it worth it? Maybe. I consider it part of my
camping stuff. I have a lot of stuff I have bought over the years that
I really don't need, but....
Here is how I have used the CD.
1. I was able to look at the different treks during the off season when
I wanted to go back.
2. I have it installed on my lap top, and along with a projector, I was
able to show this year's trek to the group and talk about what we are
doing and seeing. It was easier than all of us looking at several
maps.
3. For each trek, the CD shows the mileage between camps, elevation
gain and loss, and N/E coordinates for the campsites.
4. I compared the route I want to take with that on the CD, which I
assume is the route that Philmont used to determine distances. Allows
me to find the quickest route. But as you know, the scouts determine
the final route.
I have not used all the features on the CD.
The problems with the CD is the slowness when going between screens
that show different parts of the trek (as is any geographic CD such as
Map n Go); I get disoriented when I zoom in and out; and it takes a
second to figure out where I am.
I still prefer the maps.

Can anyone tell me what is on the Ranger CD and whether it is worth
the cost as a resource?
