I feel your pain - literally! I had a similar problem. On the third day of
our last shakedown hike, it got to a point where I was wondering if I would be
able to make the trek. My solution was a pair of SuperFeet insoles. They are
probably available at the same place you purchased your boots and come in low
volume and high volume editions. Since that time, I have purchased these
insoles for both pairs of boots and my sports shoes. Yes, to me they are that
good.
Two things to watch for though. One, you may not get the same results I did,
in which case you may need to see a podiatrist and have custom fitted insoles
made. Two, you may have to change your sock arrangement due to the decreased
volume inside your boot.
I seem to recall a recent article in Backpacker magazine on this problem as
well. You might check their website www.backpacker.com.
Good luck and
Happy Trails (and feet)
