[Philmont]: White gas filter

People have repeatedly suggested using a filter when getting white gas
from the backwoods commissaries. Is this a filter to remove dirt and
twigs in which case a screen or coffee filter will do, or a filter for
water or other impurities? Where do people buy white gas filters?
REI couldn't help me.
