Mike Anderson asks Yeah, this is another rookie question. We have a coed crew. The women are unhappy with the "no deodorant" rule, but we haven't discussed soap and shampoo yet. We have 9 males and 3 females, and it appears we will have the opportunity for 2-3 showers on our trek. Should we use Camp Suds as soap? How well does it work as a shampoo? Should we bring separate unscented shampoo? I have only been there once, in '99. We did not even take showers the first chance we had as we were about 2 hours behind schedule that day. The one day we did take showers and do laundry, we only allowed each person 5 minutes in the shower. That still takes a crew of twelve 45 minutes with up to 2 people in the shower house at a time. If you have another troop waiting their turn, it seems unfair to allow more time wean that. We only used Campsuds when we showered. Hair can not be done right in 10 minutes and shampoo only encourages a longer shower. My choice would be to eliminate extra products. We spend o much work buying the smallest flashlight, the lightest sleeping bag, leaving unneeded pots behind, and finding lighter poles, then someone wants to bring a bottle of shampoo. Campsuds will wash anything you need to wash, and it comes in small bottles. We did wash around the sump at campsites and made do with that. I am not going back with my troop in '03 because I have more adults that have never been there and want to go than I can send this time. I am starting to wish I had pulled rank and put myself on the list.
