This June, my husband and I, as well as our two boys (ages 15 and 17) are
all going on the same trek. My husband and older son went in 2001, but this
is the first time for the younger son and for me. Our shakedown trips have
gone well, but we haven't experienced the added stresses of altitude,
adverse weather, physical and emotional weariness, and just plain "I'm
tired of the same faces day in and day out." While I'm hoping this doesn't
happen, I'd like to know how other crews have handled 'family dynamics',
especially if you have had more than just one parent/child combination in a
family, as it gets even more complex with additional family members. In
2001, the advisors decided they would leave any 'discipline' issues of
their own son up to the other advisor if needed, which worked well. Does
anyone have additional suggestions? "Warning" signs to look for etc? We'd
really appreciate it. Thanks!
Jill
