Dividing the food up (2 person servings) and rehydrateing in a mug allows
each individual to clean their own mug which makes it very easy to human
sump. the water pot is very easy to claean since it only needs to dry.
This easy clean up helps eliminate the mess that results from straining, and
trying to clean the strainer.

I just completed the LNT Master Educator course taught by NOLS and AMC in
North Carolina.
We discussed the various methods to use at Philmont and the students, (park
rangers, forest ranger and outdoor educators) all thought the individual
mug/bowl method was a great idea to help minimize impact. the insulated mug
with lid was favored since it retains heat and is less likely to be spilled.

This method did not work with our class since NOLS uses staples (pasta, rice,
etc.) and all must be actually cooked to be eaten.
