Thank goodness for Jason!!! Please don't leave the list. Someone has to bring us back to reality. Having six little groups opening up dinner packages provides six times the opportunity to spill food as having the two cooks pour the contents into one pot. I agree that mashed potatoes and and oatmeal are two good bets for this idea, but I don't think I want my macaroni and cheese done this way. All this effort to get out of cleaning one pot.

Turn your crews over to the Ranger and the crew leader and stand back as Jason suggests. There are way too many Type A advisors that come to Philmont and just bulldoze over their Rangers with the attitude that they are one and apolstolic source for backcountry knowledge. Two members of our crew have been Rangers and they said the hardest part of Philmont was dealing with these guys.
