I like the one day events because it seems to be so hard to get everyone
together for a weekend.
We're using them to augment the training. I am able to get everyone
together for a one dayer
when a complete weekend is out of the question.
Living in central Indiana (read flat) we have to travel a couple of hours
to find respectable hills.
My favorite spots are in the Hoosier National Forest and a couple of state
parks near the forest.

I'm finding a few different places for practice hikes. I'm looking for
someplace to do a 1-day trip (hike out, set up camp, cook a dinner at lunch
time, clean up, strike camp, hike back), a medium length hike weekend trip
(harder terrain, tire them out and see how they perform a little worn out,
and
a long-hike weekend trip (flat terrain, but about a 13mi hike with a lunch
in the middle). Distances for these three I'm looking for about 5mi - medium
terrain, 8-10mi harder terrain but 2 days to do it in, and 10-15mi flat
terrain all one day (overnights at each end).
