When we set the cost of the trip, we figured $50 per person for these types
of expenses.

When all of the expenses are in, we will have some flex items. The
backpacking stoves we bought can be charged back to the troop budget if
necessary. There are a few other items like that we can move around. Any
money left over after all expenses (including the stoves and like items)
will be returned to the scouts.

We have no additional travel expenses after Amtrak and the cost of the
Philmont bus from and to the station.
