Just got off 18 day Grand Canyon River trip so sort of floating right now, but.

Take reflective tape and wrap the head of the tent stake. All tent stakes. Keeps people from falling over them and helps find them. I also replace all my guy lines with reflective tent guy lines. During the day you can not tell, but at night you can find your tent and you can keep other people from tripping over you lines.

Few bucks, but makes a really big difference.

That's what we use. Aluminum 7 inch gutter nails. They are about 15 cents each at your local roofing supply company. We did paint them florescent orange to help to see them after dark.

It also helps you keep from leaving one or two to feed the "stake monster" the next morning. FWIW, just be aware that these things are designed to be driven into wood facia boards to hold up rain gutters and will just as easily go into tree roots if driven with a rock similar object.
