I sweat a lot when backpacking and drink a lot of water as a result, which
tends to flush out electrolytes, so I always try to drink gatorade to
replenish electrolytes. I feel better if I do but I suppose salty foods
would probably fill the need also.
Not sure but I suspect Dave means 'clear and copious' when he says C&C.

Dave, what is "C&C"?
As for hydration (water in copious amounts) I know from personal experience
it
does help curb the effects of unaccustomed high altitude, e.g. headache,
fatigue, etc. Never been altitude sick so maybe hydration helps there too.
