I'm sure it would not, and I don't consider it such. It has a faint odor
after drying, and none a day or so later - certainly none after washing.

It is, however, difficult to get. The retail packaging (from a place like
travmed.com) is not shippable to California (any longer). You CAN get the
industrial packaging shipped to California from a place like bugpage.com.

For clothing, you want the 13.3% concentrate. 4 parts water to 1 part
Permethrin. Use rubber gloves - soak completely and let dry on the line.

I recently did all my clothes for a week-long trip to Costa Rica - the
little suckers bit everyone else but us...

Permethrin, however, does work on flies. It's designed to be applied to
clothing though, not your skin. so it's usefulness in the heat of the day
(when flies can be really bad) is minimal since you'll probably be wearing
short sleeves.

I'll re-ask my earlier question about permethrin though. Does anyone know
if a permethrin treated piece of clothing would be considered a smellable?

For those of you not familiar with permethrin, one heavy treatment on a
garment can last up to 6 weeks (including washings). So it's weight
is really nothing.

I'd guess it's not a smellable since it doesn't work as a repellant,
but as an insecticide, killing mosquitos and flies instead of repelling
them. But I'd still like to hear from someone "in the know".
