Had only one run in with one that occurred at the beginning of the Vaca Trail near the OA marker by Hwy. 64. Our lead scout didn't see him and the second scout who was 6' back didn't see him until he slithered over the toe of his boot like a shot. This was extremely unusual as this scout was our naturalist and avid hunter and could pick out anything that move that the rest of us might miss. They wanted to go look for it in the grass but for the only time on the trek I used the "Health and Safety" prerogative as advisor to suggest them to
reconsider. They weighed the options and decided they didn't really need pictures.
