My son Austin will be at Crater Lake this year. He is a voracious reader
(takes after his librarian mother) and will probably have a supply of books
he is finished with to lend out. He received care packages of books last
year when he was a ranger, and I am sure he will this year as well.

In 2001, I took James Michener's 'Centennial', about the settling of the
West (OK, it was set in Colorado, but that's only one state away!). I'd
read it before, but picked up a used paperback copy at home before I went.
Michener books are THICK, so to lighten the load I disposed of chapters
along the trek, making the load lighter as I went.
