CAUTION!!!!!! CAUTION!!!!! PLEASE BE AWARE! Just because someone says you can take the stoves on the phone, does not mean they will let you take them at the airport. Just because you get them on the plane in Florida, don't bank on it in Albuquerque or Colorado. They get lots of back packers and Scouts through those airports and know they have stoves.
In 2000, prior to 9/11 and the supposed enhanced security, we were allowed to take stoves on American in Raleigh, even had a note from someone . When we went to return home in Albuquerque they said no way! We had to scramble to send them home from the airport!
IMHO I would not venture the risk, Ship them out, at least you will have them.
