RE: [Philmont]: Shipping stoves to Philmont

If the stoves are purged of all fuel (whisperlight style) and the canisters
are dried out and empty of all fuel and left open there is no problem
transporting them in your pack. Obviously the powermax canisters are not
allowed and the colman all in one stoves present a greater problem purging
them of all fumes and gas. See this link
http://www.tsa.gov/interweb/assetlibrary/Permitted_Prohibited_12_18_2003.pdf

For a list of prohibited items. Also, matches and lighters cannot be
shipped in your pack either but can be carried on board in limited
quanities.

PS Remember anything shipped by UPS or FedEx is shipped by air and MUST be
thoroughly cleaned prior to shipping and powermax canisters cannot be
shipped by those means either.

I DON'T CARE WHAT SPIRIT AIRLINES ACCEPTS IT IS A FEDERAL LAW NOT TO CARRY
THEM ON AN AIRPLANE. Spirit may not care, but you will be arrested and fined
out here. They have all ready fined one person at SLC $10,000 for
attempting to put a stove on an airline.

The person at Spirit must have been sleeping do not risk arriving at
Philmont without stoves
