The leader of a hiking line should not go any faster than the slowest hiker in the group. This is hard to enforce but should be done. The only way to catiplier is if the group is in a line togther. Walkie Talkies should not be on the trail. Leave your cell phone at base camp. I am going to let an adult who really wants to carry his GPS. The Crew Leader is in charge of the group, but one adult needs to set the rules and expections well before the crew leaves home. The rest of the adults need to be on the same page and understand how important it is to be united, at least in apperance, to the scouts. Meet with the other adult crew members, then with the crew leader, get all of the above on the same page. Then the crew leader takes over and back him (or her) up. Never complain about anything in front of the scouts. If the crew leader messes up, talk to him about it out of ear shot.
