Jackrabbits, out of radio range, lost, regroup.
If y'all haven't been to Philmont then you are in for a treat when Mr Anderson does the Advisor information and stands on a podium to remind you to keep the group together.
Some food for thought:
If a Scout who jackrabbits ahead is injuried or gets lost and someone sues BSA will not come to your aid. You are on your own for lawyers etc as you have violated BSA rules.
If your Scouts are found on the trail without you or your team is separated you run the risk of being removed from the trail and placed back in base camp. Yes this has happened. It's that liability thing again.
Chapter 2 AMC Guide to Outdoor Leadership has a wonderful case study about keeping the group together. If you still aren't convinced after reading this great book well then there really is no hope for you as an outdoor leader.
I hate to carp on the topic but most bad things happen to the group and the environment when the group separates. If you care about your TEAM you will stick together. The end rewards far outweigh any temporary benefit perceived benefit.

>Here is a common rule when traveling in a large group and it comes to a fork in the road/crossroad and you have jackrabbits... At anytime you come to this point while in travel, wait for the rest of your group to catch up, regroup, verify your location (maybe you are all lost...) and then move on again...
