1996, at Iris Park, crewmember had a small speck of rock in his eye.
Attempted to flush it out with a syringe filled with treated water. Ending
up using a small piece of water soaked gauze to sweep it out. I had been
fortunate to watch an experienced emergencry room physician remove a small
wood chip from someone' eye, so I knew how to invert the upper eyelid. In
2002 I carried a serious first aid kit, after taking an excellent Wilderness
First Aid course, and fortunately only used a few bandaids and antibiotic
ointment for fingernail cuticle cuts and minor infections. Kids who chew
their fingernail are prone to minor infections when they can not wash their
hands well.
