We didn't run into any appreciable mosquitoes at the end of July 2003.
 There were flies around the horses and mule corals but that was to be
expected. Deet wouldn't have been any good for them.

I understand mosquitoes are more of a problem in the southern part of
Philmont.

The ranger recomended that we carry at least one bottle of deet, "just
in case".
