Thanks, Dr. Bob, and the rest of you scouting dads who have been educating
the rest of us about hikers rash! I thought it might be helpful to have a mom's
opinion on the board.
Because Desitin does have an awful smell, I chose to go with A&D Ointment
years ago when my scout was an infant. It works on all manner of skin
irritations, from bottoms to burns, badly chapped lips and noses. You can feel the
healing almost instantly -definitely overnight. It does have a bit of a lanolin
smell . Not unpleasant, but maybe a bear would think you are a sheep? It is very
effective & inexpensive. If treated as a smellable, it might be an option some
will want to consider. FWIW
