Took 3-legged, single burner version in 2000, and 2002. Still
recommend them.

Used 6-8 bottles for a Trek, using the fuel saving tips from Coops'
leader's guide. Philmont was strict about placing the stoves in the
fire rings, so we never burned 3, and often only used one.

Fuel was waiting for me for free at check-in, and I left some there
too. Was available at base camp and the two commissaries I checked
in the North Country.

Easiest possible stove to train, and use. Must follow the
directions and warm them up for 30 seconds or they flare up. When
teaching a one person light, crack and close the valve first. Then
crack again and light. The stove is light, and loosening the valve
makes it easier to start.

Still think you can get it through the airlines. Must buy fuel at
destination as with any cartridge system.

Recommend purchasing an MSR wind shield.

Subject: [Philmont]: Coleman Xtreme stove

Looking for any actual Philmont experiences with this stove.
1. Ease of use
2. Fuel availability in at back country commissaries
3. Maintenance
4. Would you take this stove again?

At 11oz, 14,000 Btu, and 3 min boil time looks like a winner.
Thanks,
Steve.
