[Philmont]: Sandals

Hi:
Our contingent crew was on the Appalachian Trail this last weekend on a shakedown hike. We met a former Scoutmaster lugging a 71 pound pack. He was headed north 250+ miles to Harpers Ferry.

Also met a hiker with Teva sandals on his feet and a big ol' pack on his back. I have a tendency to trip when wearing sandals and wouldn't want to hike in them. But this guy was making great time on the trail. But then again, he was 30 years younger than me too.
