Something I told all my scouts to consider when selecting camp shoes is that
they may have to serve as backup hiking shoes.

when going on weekend backpacking trips, I take moccasins as camp shoes. But
at most I'd have to hike out a couple of miles with a broken boot.
Philmont might require a few days on broken boots, and camp shoes might be
better to hike in.
