Your Ranger will go over dry camp techniques with you, but it is a good idea
to be prepared ahead of time. You should probably do a little meal management
for your last night and and day on the trail. Eat a supper for lunch at your
last water source. A good place to stop would be Clark's Fork and ask the
staff for a pass thru campsite so you can do your dinner meal and clean up. Be
sure to fill up all canteens at the very last water source before you head up
to Shaefers Pass. Again, check with the staff at Clark's Fork to see what
water sources are good. Hopefully, the spring at the pass will be running and
you can refill everything. Our crews typically carry two 1-quart nalgenes per
person, with the capability of either soft wide mouth canteen or other water
container (a one liter soda bottle works great) so they can carry a total of 4
quarts a piece.

Get up early the next day, get your sunrise from Tooth Ridge and get into
base camp before it gets hot.
