One caution with duct tape: be sure your skin (and that of each crew
member) is not allergic to the adhesive. Remember, the stuff isn't made for
contact with human skin and is not sold on the bandage counter at your local drug
store. There are various duct tapes on the market. Better to test a small
piece of tape on everyone before the trek to be sure you have no adverse
reactions. If you want to know more, you can probably get an MSDS (material safety
data sheet) from a duct manufacturer to find out which compounds and
hazardous wastes they mix into their adhesives. The wilderness first aid courses I
have taken all advise against duct tape.

We had this thread on this list a while back. Others may remember the
specifics.
