I,am in a sales & service type of business. Gee, aren't we all selling something. Part of our training is to know that on a good day people will only hear 1 in 4 words that you say. I have said the same thing several times in trial closes and then go back to that same phrase and they go "oh really", sign me up.... I have found this to work many many times. One other thing that I have used to help people understand what is going on is to
"tell them what to do"
"show them what to do"
"then let them do it".
Another way of putting this is to use the feature of what you are offering and then the benefit of what you are tiring to convey to them.
People can be resistant to any kind of a change, good or bad.

This is also 1 Ranger's opinion. I wonder how many Ranger's there are a season out there? The Ranger we had in 03 was new and we were his first crew. Several times we helped him out. Most of the time he helped us out. It was a team effort like what Joe is talking about.

While being well prepared is a good thing, it doesn't hurt to hear the same thing that everyone else hears. Sometimes just the way it's said will make someone go "ahhh, now it makes sense." I even listen to the Flight attendants do their monotonous safety briefing every time I fly. I'm just weird that way.

  Better safe, than sorry.

Yeah, good points guys. Yes, it should be a team effort and it does not hurt to hear something repeated to be sure it has been grasped. I would hope that a Ranger being disappointed that a crew came prepared would be the exception, and that their training would include the concepts of flexibility and tailoring based on how well-prepared the crew is.
