We took 4 man tents to Philmont one year since we had 16 and 17 year olds in the crew and all of them were over 6 foot tall. The problem with 4-man tents is that you are going to have to be very creative to get their footprint in some the the smaller campsites at Philmont. 2-man tents are much easier to fit. And remember, the only real time that you will be spending in your tents is just for sleeping.
