I am a big believer in the First Need purifiers. I have owned mine for
about five years, and have run some really nasty water through it. I think Wild
Horse had some of the worst water I've ever seen back in 2001. You can drink
fresh water as fast as you can pump it, with no waiting. I love it, but REI
and other stores really overprice it. REI has the system for $93, and
elements are $42. Go to _www.waltonfeed.com_ (http://www.waltonfeed.com) , and
look for the First Need systems, and replacement elements on page ten of their
catalog.. In their latest catalog, the complete system is about $62, and
replacement elements are $32. Much better price, same equipment. I only go
through about one element per year, by using disposable coffee filters as a
prefilter to remove lots of particulates in bad water.

I have no interest in this company, I just found it on the internet several
years ago.

The replacement filters are about $40, but so are the MSR ceramic filters.
