Been watching the tarp discussion for some time. While I'm all about
innovation, in this case buying was the choice we made over building. At
$60 and 2# I'm partial to the Kelty noah's 12x12. It comes with a bag & guy
lines. There are backpackable poles for those that want something higher
than walking staff height. It is also available at a 9x9 or 16x16.
In 04 we had two crews that went to Philmont with Noah's 12x12s, we pitched
them on the bias. No problems (other than the ranger had never seen one).
