I would recommend going to Beaubien and setting-up camp before hiking
Trail Peak. Beaubien is a very large camp and you need to get there as
early as possible to get a good campsite and register for programs.
There are two trails up Trail Peak. The old trail is rocky and
straight up. You pass pieces of plane wreckage for a considerable
length of this trail which we found to be a somber, respectful
experience that gives everyone a little time to reflect on the tragedy
of the plane crash before reaching the fuselage. It seems appropriate
that there be a little sweat and suffering to reach this memorial. The
views from the top are spectacular. The new trail is a much longer
graded trail that is an easy hike.
