I would say do Trail Peak on the way to Beaubien. I took a number of
my Mountain Treks that route, except we usually starated at Crater
Lake.
There's a newer trail coming down the Beaubien side of Trail Peak.
Nice easy grade from what I remember. Can't remember if they ever put
in a new trail on the Fowler Pass side of Trail Peak or not. If they
haven't, it is a straight up the side of the mountian trail. Not
impossible (as Trail Peak isn't that high of a peak) but it will get
you breathing hard anyway.
