RE: [Philmont]: Bear Caves to Beaubien (Trail Peak)

I'm not sure of the distance from Beaubien to the base of Trail Peak but if
it were me I would look at dropping the gear off at Beaubien and then doing
the side hike back to Trail Peak. That extra weight when you are going up a
steep elevation is something you probably don't want or need. In any event
be sure you have plenty of water, some rations, a first aid kit,
map/compass/GPS receiver, and a camera when you make the side hike and
climb. You may need rain gear depending on the weather. The map and
compass will be valuable when you are on top and want to confirm the
identity of landmarks in the distance.
