Re: [Philmont]: Fundraising

This past Sunday we held a car wash for our Jamboree troop. We made just over $500. The weather was cloudy with a chance of rain. If you tell all your friends and family they will come buy. We even cleaned a car that had just been washed and waxed on Saturday.

The best surprise was 6 members of a Harley Davidson club pulled into the gas station we were using and after getting gas they pulled over to the wash line. The lead driver handed me a twenty and said that he made Eagle "back in the day" and just wanted to help. For some reason he turned down the offer to wash his hog. Must have been the sight of all those wet scouts with hoses. :-))

For our home troop we combine the car wash with a yard sale. That usually gets us about $1000.

The secret to the car wash is not to set a price. Just tell the customer to let there conscience be their guide.

Good luck,
Bob Mack
