Troop 94 has done a couple of things: 1) we had a Snap-On toolbox
donated and we are currently raffling it off. 2) We teamed up with
another non-profit to do a series of breakfasts (about 8 in all) where
half of the profits went to one group and the other half to us.
By using these two methods, we have raised 100% of all the funds we need
(11 x $505). Help for boys who can't afford new boots or other necessary
items has come from very generous people/groups in the community.
I couldn't have accomplised this by myself. I have a great assistant
scoutmaster and a group of boys that are not afraid of working their way
to Philmont! Our community supports us because we don't typically ask
for donations. We work for it. (We did the Boundary Waters last year by
raking lawns, picking up rocks out of fields [we're in Iowa], and
cleaning out groves. We also had a gas grill to raffle off.).
