That's my point. If you keep it clean, fine.
However, I think I would have a problem with recommending
this for the youth who are much more difficult to convince
to self-police when it comes to spilling.

I know lots of people use the chair conversion at Philmont,
and quite successfully. My own experience is that the youth
(and some advisors) are not as conscious as they should be
in bear country, and using a conversion system may not be
appropriate for them. If you know the person is capable
of the non-smellable self-discipline to not eat in it, then
it's a great choice. I just haven't run across a lot of youth
I can say with confidence they would remain true to this.

If that is the case, if you agree that making it harder
for the youth to violate bear protocols by taking the option
of forgetting to not sit in it when they eat away from them,
then the advisors probably should refrain from that as well
since their example is seen a lot better than it is heard.
