RE: [Philmont]: Creature Comfort

Maybe I'm the odd man out, but I debated whether to bring some sort of chair
and didn't bring anything. I found that I didn't miss one at all. There was
always a cozy log, patch of dirt, or rock to rest on when I needed to. Try
what you think you might need on your shakedowns, you may come to the same
conclusion I did.

I agree with Phil.

Took a Crazy Creek along with a 3/4 sleeping pad in '04 (used the cc for my
feet); Didn't care for it all that much as you are sitting on the ground
(most of the time). I'll be taking a three legged stool and a full length
pad in '06.

See www.troop6bsa.org?cmd=philmont for more of my favorite stuff.

I tried the crazycreek type chairs and did not care much for them. I like
getting off the ground. So, for two Philmont treks and many other trips I
carried a lightweight 3 leg stool (14 ozs.). Then I found the slinglight
chair. Saw someone at Philmont with one in 2003 and tried it out. Decided
it was worth the money. Took it to the boundary waters last year and loved
it. Taking it this year to Philmont.

Years ago we were permitted to use hammocks but due to environmental
concerns hammocks are outlawed.

I am considering taking a chair.
Either:
http://www.slinglight.com/
Or:
http://www.crazycreek.com/

The sling light is 18 oz and has a headrest.
The Crazy Creek original is 26 oz.
Has anyone used either of these two products?
Any input would be appreciated.
