That has been our experience as well. I don't think we have had a campout
with less that 15mph winds in six years, such is the life in South Texas,
near the coast. They also performed well with a six inch snow load this
winter. As the say, your mileage may vary :-)
For what it is worth, my Crews have opted for the Philtents each trip. They
felt it was the smartest choice for them. They liked having everyone in the
same tent, the support from Philmont, and not having to pack tents. Again,
YMMV.
