[philmont] Are Crocs "approved" shoes

Ditto Karen's comments. In fact, quite a few staff had croc's. Holes or no holes....

Several of our crew found pairs of water shoes but with hard (or semi hard) soles. These were quite comfortable. I personally couldn't bring myself to purchase a pink, yellow, or white pair of crocs (I seemed to never be able to find black or brown in size 13!!)

There were a number of our crew last summer that used Crocs as camp shoes. Nothing was said about them not being approved or being unsafe.

At a Crew planning meeting last evening the topic of camp shoes came up and a discussion of Crocs ensued. Are Crocs, and similar shoes, approved as "closed toe" shoes in the eyes of the BSA? Some of us thought yes, some no. Not looking for a discussion as to the merits of Crocs as camp shoes for Philmont, just if the are considered OK.
