[philmont] Are Crocs "approved" shoes?

I recently bought a pair of "camp shoes" for general wear and note that I
have to step carefully on my gravel in my driveway to avoid feeling my feet
jabbed by the rocks. I would never take these shoes to Philmont.

I would pretest any shoe for good protection for your feet from getting
jabbed by gravel. If you had to wear a camp shoe on the trail at Philmont,
there are some places which have plenty of gravel.
With a heavy backpack load you might have a hard time with your feet.

Just as you have to fit a hiking boot to your feet and ensure that it will
absorb the impact from
sharp objects you should pretest a camp shoe. I think the thickness and
pliability of the sole
of the shoe will largely determine whether it is Philmont qualified.

I'm not carrying a banner for any particular shoe for Philmont, boot or
otherwise. I will come
down firmly in favor of pretesting at home so that things go smoothly at
Philmont.

>With all due respect Pete, I wear my Crocs all around town, on
