This has been a good discussion. I raised the point about "slipping and
sliding" because I remember this from Philmont while wearing hiking boots.
I remember some trails where your foot hit the ground at all sorts of
angles. But from the discussion it sounds like Crocs are up to the job of
serving as a good hiking shoe.
Whatever shoe or boot you take a shakedown will tell you how it will perform
on your feet, and that in the end is what will count.
